The racing simulation franchise; Gran Turismo has built a strong community and fan base around the globe. The series is not only a fan favorite but also a commercial success for Sony. The series has collectively sold over 80.4 million copies worldwide since its beginning. In June 2022, Sony announced they were making a movie based on the Gran Turismo Series. A film on a racing simulator game? Pretty exciting, the idea got stuck, and the franchise’s fans were hooked. Although there are not many details about the film’s plot, a short overview was revealed when the movie was announced. Based on a true story, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver. Neill Blomkamp, film director and screenwriter who is known for the science fiction films District 9, Elysium and Chappie will be directing the film, and It was also confirmed that Jason Hall and Zach Baylin will write the screenplay. Archie Madekwe will play the lead role in the Gran Turismo Movie. Today, Sony has confirmed via Twitter that the movie’s filming has started.
