While the company is backtracking with the cancellations, it wouldn’t have been a bad thing as fans haven’t seen a new Splinter Cell in a long time, even if it’s a VR game. But the same couldn’t be said about Ghost Recon Frontline due to its poor reception. It seems that Ubisoft is ultimately putting a lot of hopes and expectations on the new Assassin’s Creed Red and the other installments in the franchise as a whole.
New Assassin’s Creed Project Red and Other Titles
There are rumors about that many Assassin’s Creed Projects are in development in addition to the leaked Assassin’s Creed Project “Red”. This isn’t particularly something new or groundbreaking, as everyone knows that Ubisoft develops a large cycle of Assassin’s Creed games in addition to some spin-offs.
Assassin’s Creed Red is codenamed project that is said to be a part of the larger Infinity project, and it’s highly likely that this title is set in Japan. That sounds pretty exciting to us and is bound to create a lot of hype just because of the setting of The new Assassin’s Creed Red. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports that Red is going to actually be a part of Infinity instead of being a standalone game. Jeff Grub reported that the game might be set in Japan. We can’t yet confirm that, since it hasn’t been officially confirmed. Fans have been hoping for this to be true and quite honestly, we do too. Let’s move on to Assassin’s Creed Infinity. The game itself seems a tad bit confusing. Players need to be informed that the game acts as a “hub” with multiple settings in place, and it’s supposed to serve as a mainline entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The details are pretty scarce this time around, but considering it’s going to be a live-service title, Infinity is bound to release with a handful of settings and be expanded and worked upon down the road. To us, it seems like Assassin’s Creed Red is one of those titles and is supposed to be set in Asia. To be precise, Japan. In addition, a new rumor suggests that another Assassin’s Creed will be set within the Mesoamerican Ethnic period of the Aztecs. It’s possible that this Aztec setting could be one of the potential launch locations for Assassin’s Creed Infinity, or it could be tied to a smaller indie project. To add more flavor to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed titles, Assassin’s Creed Rift is another project in development that is reported to feature Basim and be set in ancient Baghdad. Beyond those, there are numerous hints at an upcoming Assassin’s Creed VR Project by the codename of Nexus. There are also speculations of an upcoming Assassin’s Creed 1 remake in the works. Overall, Ubisoft seems to have its hands full with the numerous Assassin’s Creed titles in development, but if the New Assassin’s Creed Red does set in Japan, long-time fans will be pretty happy.
