However, Insomniac Games went silent after the announcement, and there was no follow-up news regarding the game’s development process or release date. Until earlier this month, when an incomplete page for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 popped up on the PlayStation Store’s site, which started gossip among the fans that the release date announcement of the game was near. But the PlayStation store page was later taken down. However, a few days after this incident, one of the writers, Jamie Mayer, working on both Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine at Insomniac Games, mentioned on her website that Spider-Man 2 is coming in Fall 2023. This news went viral and made headlines, and fans were excited that they finally had at least a firm release window to look at. Although the writer edited her website and removed the ‘Fall 2023’ release date written next to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it was too late, and the news was already out in the wild. Today, Sony has confirmed that the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man is coming next year. The official news was made public through a PlayStation blog post going over all the PlayStation titles coming in 2023, and Spider-Man 2, as it should, was the first subheading in the blog post. The blog post also shares a message from the game’s creative director: It is exciting news for a Spider-Man fan as it has been 2 years since the last Spider-Man game (Spider-Man Miles Morales 2020) came out. And the hype for Spider-Man 2 is insane because both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be teaming up against Venom and Kraven the Hunter. The gameplay and other details about the game are yet to be revealed, but we hope that it fulfills the fans’ expectations. – Bryan Intihar, Creative Director Nevertheless, it is for sure that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to your screens in Fall 2023 for PlayStation 5.
