But aside from the mainline PC and console games that the franchise has been producing since 2002, EA decided in 2021 to try out a new platform for the Battlefield franchise; mobile and EA announced a totally new Battlefield Mobile game that is a new game built from scratch rather than a mobile port, it is being developed as a collaborative effort of DICE and Industrial Toys. Industrial Toys has a previous track record of growing mobile games and was recently acquired by EA. We all know DICE is the studio that has been behind all the Battlefield games to date, and even a mobile game based on the Battlefield franchise is impossible without them. When Battlefield Mobile was announced, it was slated for a 2022 release window. Still, there have not been any recent announcements or activity regarding Battlefield Mobile despite some internal play testing and closed Beta. But on 9th November 2022, EA officially kicked off an open Beta for Battlefield Mobile and it has been started in some selected regions, which includes the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.

And the Mobile Gaming Industry has been on the path of exponential growth in recent times, primarily due to the ease of usage and availability of smartphones. The mobile gaming industry is not a department you want to overlook in recent years, especially if you are already a massive gaming franchise like Battlefield. As reported by Statista:

And we have already seen significant FPS gaming franchises moving to the mobile gaming industry; Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege are a few names. And Call of Duty Mobile has been the oldest and most successful among them and has been proving itself since 2019. As the Battlefield franchise is the direct competitor of Call of Duty, it will be interesting to see how Battlefield Mobile turns out for EA and, more importantly, what it offers to fans.
