When Activision acquired Toys for Bob, the developer of the current installment in the Crash Bandicoot series, the only way users could play the game was through Battle.net. If you’re unfamiliar with Toys for Bob, they’re perhaps best known as the company that developed Skylanders. Its most recent releases include the 2018 Spyro Reignited Trilogy and the 2020 Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. The acquisition of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft also hinted that games would soon begin to expand outside the confines of this service. The news for its PC release was revealed by Canadian Guy Eh, a YouTuber, who got a promotional pizza box with the Aku Aku logo and shared the video online. The video shows a photo of a fake receipt, and the Steam release is abundantly evident by the print reading, “Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is coming to Steam October 18.” On Tuesday, you’ll be able to purchase it through Valve‘s online store, making it the ideal complement to your Steam library.
Canadian Guy Eh‘s video has sparked more and more curiosity among fans. The box also says, “Hungry for more? Try our new Wumpa Pizza for $12.08.” If you read the number as a date, you’ll see that it’s set for December 8th, 2022, the night of the 2022 Game Awards. This has led fans to speculate that an announcement about Crash Bandicoot would be made during the event. Crash Bandicoot’s Wumpa League, in particular, has been the subject of much speculation following the rumors previously. In addition to assisting on Call of Duty (along with apparently every other Activision company), Toys for Bob has been hard at work on the new Crash Bandicoot game. At any rate, we won’t know for sure what this new Wumpa Pizza is until we see it is shown off at The Game Awards.
