Square Enix published previous entries in the Tomb Raider series. In 2009, the publisher purchased Eidos Interactive, the company that owned Crystal Dynamics. However, Square Enix sold Crystal Dynamics and other studios to the Embracer Group this year, along with the rights to games like Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, and Thief.
